IBM UrbanCode Deploy helps you to plan and automate the deployment of complex applications to development, test, and production environments. It supports distributed and z/OS applications to deploy. This article briefs about how Urbancode Deploy helps to deploy z/OS application
UCD z/OS agents need to be installed in z/OS by the SMP/e process and the agent should be active to connect with the Serve. Agent can be started either Started task by customize the started task JCL hlq.SBUZSAMP(BUZAGNT) Or by Command line command from installation location ./start agent
UCD Server can be on Windows /Linux and UCD agent on z/OS LPAR.
Code Station choice
- Server Codestation or
- HFS Code station
- Default for z/OS artifacts – Server Codetstation, but is HFS then default location is agent install dir/var/repository
- UCD Component can be create from Interface Component -> Create and component is a group of deployable artifacts that make up an application. The logical representation of deployable artifact along with the user-defined process that operates them. Here for z/OS application we will use the Component Template as MVSCOPONENT , Component Type as z/OS, Use default version import log and Inherit clean-up setting
- Component process is a series of user-defined steps that operate on a component’s artifacts
The above is list of the predefined process we can use in Process Editor as drug and drop and do provide configuration/ Environment variables at Component Level
To Associate z/OS Agent with component , we have go to Resources- > Create Top Level Resources and then -> Add Agent -> Add Component
Combination of Components can be logically make up an Application . An application can be created by -> Create Application ( J02MORTGAGEApp) -> Create Environment ( TEST) and then -> Add Base Resources, we can observe that Application with named J02MORTGAGEApp would have been created. Then Configure application Environment , and then click on Add Component At VRG Technologies, we have strong expertise on Urbancode Deploy both in distributed and z/OS systems and applications.
